Artist's Comments

I'm a huge fan of the 1987 movie Labyrinth, by Jim Henson. So, when I heard that a sequel was coming out in manga format, I was really excited. I bought it, sat down to read it... and grew very angry very quickly. The story is pretty good, there's no problem with that. And the layout is easier to follow than a lot of manga or comics these days. And the cover art was beautiful. But the inside art... the art actually *hurt* me. It made me very upset, and by the end I was so mad, I wanted to re-draw the entire thing myself! So, out of that frustration, I did up this drawing of Jareth.

That's pretty awsome...although i spent all the scenes with The Goblin King staring at (I think it was David Bowie's) package.....shut up...he was wearing skin-tight stuff....it wasn't cool.

I give critiques, to be taken seriously, no "OMG THAT'S SO PRETTY"....unless of course it actually is.

*attempts to bow but can't cause she's staring at him* Wow, that's really amazing. All praise David Bowie

I understand what you mean, that's why my copy came from a dissapointed fan. -lol- But supposedly the next volume is going to be better, let us hope that the writer is not lying to us. >__<

You've captured Jareth very well. I love the attention to detail! Most of my friends rewatched the Dance Magic Dance scene over and over, just to see the *ahem* package. hee hee. I wonder if he would look good as a chibi??
Your other villains look so good...
Keep up the great work!

Oh! What a fantastic rendition of Jareth! He looks beautiful, regal and dangerous, just as he should. Lovely detail in the clothing. I adore his hair. And, oh my gosh, what would I pay for those boots?!

Totally agree with you on the manga. I wasn't thrilled by the story, but the artwork hurt. :dohtwo:
Nice, well-balanced drawing.

Nostalgic for 80s fantasy films. When glitter was cheap, monsters were muppets, and Evil was smexy.

wow you succeded on catching the jarethness of the goblin king
:iconartistmeli:
Thanks! I tried to keep the David Bowie in him, while still making him true to the character... and added in an anime-ish immortal quality too.

you are welcome... I love your pic, and I understand why everybody as so disapointed about the manga sequel
