Anime Kaigi Entry - Taiko

My favorite of my two losing entries to Anime Kaigi's art contest. The theme was Obon, and these are their two mascots, Kai the Abert's Squirrel and Gi the... some kind of dog (they took the info off their site when the contest ended, so I have no way to reference it). It's one of my favorite parts about Obon - the Taiko drummers.

I have no idea what those lanterns say, I copied the text from various images of Obon lanterns.

This one goes out to my friends Wll and Katie, with whom I have attended three or four Bon festivals at the Morikami Museum and Japanese gardens. Wish I could be there to go again this year.
