Modern Senshi

I heard "Modern" and I took it *really* literally. I thought, what could I make a Sailor Moon fuku out of using only stuff I could buy at the mall today? So they all have Converse-ish shoes. Sailor Moon is a kind of a cross between Princess Sailor Moon from PGSM and Punk. And once I drew her, I had to do the rest! Mercury is a little emo/goth, Mars is Harajuku style. Venus is a trendsetter as always, and Jupiter very sporty; gotta have shorts under that skirt! They all have shirts with bows printed on them in that "foil" material, all metallic and shiny, and tutus under their main skirts. They each have a transformation pendant, since broaches aren't all that common these days.

I always loved the Moon Staff and Venus's Crystal sword from the manga, so I had to include them. Their designs are very Nomura-inspired. The pose of the the overall picture is a re-interpretation of this piece from a Sailor Moon art book: [link]
