Promethean File - the Founders

Mock-up of a research notebook featuring characters and events from the Promethean game I've been playing. The Founders are an important fraternity of Alchemists that we seem to encounter more as the game goes on. I'll most likely be doing a page on each member in the weeks to come.

This took me longer than the other pages because I had 5 figures to paint, and Victorian fashion does so love its tiny buttons. >_< In retrospect, much of the fashion is incorrect and I probably should have used more references, but I use the fact that it wasn't *actually* taken in the Victorian era as an excuse to be incorrect. XD

The part I *did* do a ton of research on was the alchemy, and it will show in the individual portraits as well. I find alchemy fascinating, and totally geeked out over what I found out.

For example, the engraving I picked for the Founders' Crest is the second image from Basil Valentine's Azoth series of prints, and around the outside of it, it reads "Visita Interiora Terre Rectificando Invenies Occultum Lapidem"... What it means is: “Visit the Interior of the Earth; by rectification thou shalt find the Hidden Stone"; this formula was often referred to as V.I.T.R.I.O.L. in the alchemical texts. That's right, Vitriol is actually an acronym! I never knew that. XD
