This is for 's Moon Line contest.

It's her Queen Diana, first ruler of the moon, and the Moon itself as it manifests in her dreams. As soon as I read about her characters, I knew exactly the scene I wanted to portray: The moment that the Moon bestows upon Diana the ginzuishou (the Silver Crystal to you dub fans). He takes both her hands in his, and inside her hands the crystal materializes!

I loved Diana's design, she's just so regal! So I wanted to make sure the Moon looked just as royal, and did him up as a proper prince. I tried to give his outfit the same kind of renaissance inspired look as Diana's dress.

I really wanted to do soooo much more with this, but life happens and although I did the sketch for this at least two weeks ago, I didn't get around to coloring it until today. It was actually the last thing my scanner let me scan before it decided to white out everything I put in it. I was going to vector trace the outlines, for one. I'm very bummed that I didn't have a chance to even color the outlines.

I also tried a new lighting technique... darkening the figures and painting in the highlights instead of painting the shadows on like I usually do. I was trying to follow a tutorial from the ImagineFX magazine I bought a while back, and if we're judging by how well I followed the instructions, I *totally* failed... but I fudged around and got a result I actually kind of like, considering how little time I had to work on this.
